After dusting, the prints are collected using a sticky, transparent tape which the powder sticks to.

Ordinary sticky tape works quite well, however the Police normally use special sticky pads which have handy labels on top.

Each pad has a transparent cover sheet which is pressed down to cover and protect the print afterwards.
