This is a photograph of an actual boot print left by a criminal at the scene of a break and enter. In this case the criminal had walked onto a floor that had been recently washed. He was probably too nervous to notice the almost perfect prints he left behind, which were able to be dusted in the same manner as fingerprints. The detail shows a small cut or defect in the heel of the boot. While other boots may be similar, it is very likely only the criminal's will have that defect, allowing a very good identification.
